If your printer can’t communicate with your PC, it can be offline. Check all the possible methods to turn printer online.

Methods to turn printer online:

Verify Network Connection to turn printer online:

Verify that the printer is turned on and linked to your PC’s wireless network. The built-in menu on your printer should display the network to which it is connected. 


Use printer Offline mode is not selected:

Make sure your printer is not set to “Use Printer Offline. Choose Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners. Choose your printer next, then click Open Queue. Check the Printer section and make sure the Use Printer Offline is not selected. Your printer will turn online from offline.


Unplug & Restart your printer:

Restarting your printer can sometimes fix problems. After turning it off and unplugging it, wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it back on.


Set your printer as default printer to turn printer online:

  • Choose Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners.
  • After choosing your printer, choose Open queue.
  • Choose Printer, then set as Default Printer.
  • If Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline are selected, deselect them.
  • If you see the notice “Windows will stop managing your default printer for you,” click OK.

Cancel print queue:

  • Choose Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners.
  • After choosing your printer, choose Open queue.
  • Choose any of the papers listed under Document Name, then choose Document, and finally choose Cancel.

Restart the program that controls the printing queue:

  • Select Services from the list of search results after going to Search in the taskbar and typing services.
  • Select and hold (right-click) the Print Spooler service, then choose Restart from the menu that appears.

Uninstalling and installing your printer on your computer:

  • Uninstall your printer:
  • Choose Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners.
  • Uninstall your device after choosing your printer, then choose Yes.

  • Reinstall your printer:
  • Choose Start > Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners.
  • Check to see that your printer is connected and switched on. To reinstall your printer, choose add a printer or scanner and adhere to the instructions.

Restart your computer:

It can sometimes help to restart your computer in order to update the services and components required for your device to connect with your printer.
